Naruto's muscles tensed at her words.  That. Bastard. he cursed.  He clenched his fists; his knuckles turned white and his nails dug into his skin. He brought Sakura closer to him, so that there was no physical space between them.

"You know I would never to that to you, Sakura-chan." He ran his fingers through her hair. Sakura nodded her head.

"Yeah… " Her voice trailed off.  Naruto let out a weak chuckle.
"You still don't believe me, do you?" To answer him, Sakura grinned and shrugged. He smiled, a light bulb going off in his head.  "I understand." He pushed her away from him and stood up without a sound. Sakura took a sharp breath and her eyebrows pulled together.

"Wait, where are you going?" Her voice dripped with dread and confusion. Naruto kept his mouth shut and avoided eye contact. He walked slowly over to the kitchen draws and, having practically lived with her, knew just which draw to pull open.

He slide the draw open quickly, forcing its contents to slide forward as well. His eyes narrowed and scanned the draw until he found what he was looking for. He pulled out a thick black Sharpie and smirked.

Naruto walked back over to where Sakura sat, hugging her knees to her chest. He squatted down at eye level. Sea foam green met sapphire blue. Worried met determined.

Without breaking eye contact Nauto uncapped the Sharpie with a 'click'.  He took Sakura's left arm gently and flipped her hand over so her palm was facing the ceiling. He put the sharpie to her skin and wrote four letters. He recapped the sharpie and smiled.

Sakura look down at what he had written on her skin. Her eye browns pulled together for a minute, but the she smiled. She smiled a real, happy, not fake smile for the first time in a long time. Because Naruto had written a simple word  on her arm. He wrote "LOVE".

"To write love on her arms."
